Was just admiring my Bruno Paillard Champagnes bottles, when I noticed a degorgement date!

The other day I was just going through my cache of wine and was thinking about the next time I will get a chance to taste the delicious Bruno Paillard Brut Champagne again when I noticed on the back label there was a date printed on it.

Now since this is not a vintage Champagne I thought that this must be the date the wine wine bottled but investigating this a bit deeper from the Bruno Paillard website I learnt that this is actually the degorgement date!

What is degorgement?
Taken from the Bruno Paillard site, I learnt that it is: “When the bottle is lying in a vertical position – head first – the deposit is therefore concentrated against the cork,
just a few millimetres thick. It can now be removed – a process called disgorgement.”

Last night had my first taste of Bordeaux Supérieur wine with Château Montcabrier

Well there is so much to wine and so many types of wine to try that I took the plunge and forked out £20+ to buy my first ever Bordeaux wine. Château Montcabrier, Bordeaux Supérieur was actually recommended to me and the story about how all the MP’s at the House of Lords just love this wine made me want to give it a go too!

From the presentation of the bottle to the taste the wine was very smooth with a classy feel and for a second I felt I was sitting in the House of Lords drinking this top drop!

Opted for an alcohol free wine on New Years Eve with Eisberg Chardonnay German wine

Eisberg Chardonnay german wine

Having eaten and drunk quite a bit over Christmas I actually decided to get prepared for the New Year with something a bit more lighter and opted for the alcohol free Eisberg Chardonnay German wine.

I had this alcohol free wine with I think was home made pizza and garlic bread and the great thing about it is that you don’t need to drink slowly without the fear of getting drunk quickly!

My Christmas wine choice went down a hit with all my guests! Etchart Privado Malbec Sauvignon wine rocks!

etachart privado malbec cabernet sauvignon wine

I decided to go for a Cabernet Sauvignon blend and bought a few bottles of Etchart Privado Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon wine since my last experience with the blend Kell’s Edge Cabernet Grenache was a good one.

This year, instead of having Turkey we made a very delicious chicken, sprouts, salmon filled with prawns, potatos and a chocolate filled Christmas pudding which the Etchart Privado went perfectly well with.

The fruityness of the wine complimented the chicken and the pepper flavours of the wine helped to add character to the overall meal.
